Scope: |
The essential requirements (Reg 6) for the radio equipment are
- Health (Electromagnetic fields) (of person, animals)
- Safety (of person, animals, property, ... )
- Electromagnetic compatibility (emission and immunity)
- Effectively uses and supports the efficient use of radio spectrum
- Additional essential requirements, only for certain categories or classes of radio equipment.
This ESSENTIAL describes the UK regulations (for England, Scotland and Wales) on Radio matters.
For all radio transmitters with some exception.
Only the radio devices which are exempted from licensing are addressed.
The scope is still identical to EU Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU.
NOTE:
1) Northern Ireland regulations are not completely covered by this ESSENTIAL. At least use the CE mark for Northern Ireland.

The Radio Equipment Regulations 2017
UK Radio Regulation. (Transposition of the EU Radio Equipment Directive into the national law of the United Kingdom).
Must be read with SI 2019 No. 696:2019-03-27 to get the UKCA Mark and the formal differences.
The first version was the European RED. Many requirements are similar to RED.

Purpose of the instrument
The main objective of this instrument is to provide businesses with additional time to transition to the post-exit independent UK conformity assessment marking (UKCA) regime requirements, in order to legally place products on the market in Great Britain (England and Wales and Scotland).
