Legislation in force: The applicable legislation is the Turkish Regulation on Chemicals Registration, Evaluation, Auhtorisation and Restriction (so-called KKDIK) which is mandatory since 23 December 2017. The KKDIK Ordinance unite various Turkish chemical laws in one law by replacing three existing regulations: – The Inventory and Control of Chemical Regulation (KEK) (effective date 23 June, 2017) – Regulation on Restrictions for the Manufacture, Marketing and Use of certain Dangerous Substances and preparation (effective date 23 December, 2017) – Regulation on Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Substances and Mixtures (GBF) (effective date 31 December, 2023) The law is the final step on Turkey's way to aligning chemicals legislation with the EU regulatory framework in the accession negotiations. Amendment of the KKDIK regulation which is mandatory since 29 November 2019.

Scope of legislation
This ESSENTIAL describes the legal obligations for manufacturers of articles and the regulatory requirements for substances in articles.

The Turkey REACH like-law: KKDIK is closely harmonized with the EU REACH provisions and requires companies to pre-register and register substances (on their own, in mixtures or in articles) manufactured in Turkey or imported into Turkey with volumes equal to or above 1 tone per year:
- Substances in quantities of one ton or more per year manufactured in or imported into Turkey;
- Substances in mixtures in quantities of one ton or more per year manufactured in or imported into Turkey;
- Substances in articles manufactured in or imported into Turkey which are intended to be released under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use and the quantity totals 1 ton per year or more.
