This ESSENTIAL describes the legal obligations for manufacturers and importers and the regulatory requirements for electrical equipment as specified in the technical regulations of New Zealand, esp. the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010
Regulated voltages:
Low voltage: 50 Vac / 120 Vdc up to 1000 VAC / 1500 Vdc (different value for Mining Equipment)
Extra low voltage: Below 50 Vac / 120 Vdc
In the act ist worker health described, but it is not part of this Essential.

Legislation in force: |
Electricity Act 1992
Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010
The regulations describe requirements both for appliances and electrical work (installations)

Comment on the comparability to EU legislation: |
Extra low voltage equipment is regulated in NZLbut nut in this way inside EU
There is a mandatory registration system (EESS).
The technical requirements for devices are almost based on IEC standards which also used inside EU.... |
