- COMMUNICATIONS AND MULTIMEDIA (TECHNICAL STANDARDS) REGULATIONS 2000

or regulated or restricted products

- Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Orders

Several mandatory standards for household appliances, hand-held machinery and multimedia equipment are defined.

Scope of legislation
1) Electrical product deemed to comply with Malaysian Standard or other standards approved by the Malaysian Authorities.
(= Electrical apparatus or accessories operating at 50 Volts AC or 120 Volts DC and above)
- Certificate of approval or
- Letter of exemption

2) Product safety requirements caused by use of radio technology. Radio/Wireless products deemed to be certified under the Communications and Multimedia (Technical Standards) Regulations 2000.

3) Batteries
Import is accompanied by:
- a Certificate of Conformance (CoC); or
- Notification Form or a Letter of Clarification
