Scope of legislation

EMC requirements may result out of a) the use of radio/wireless technology, or b) wired communication capabilities. Either would be linked to a published mandatory Malaysian standard. Malaysia has no general legislation with respect to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in place. Globalnorm did only identify import restrictions for electronic equipment capable of wired and wireless communication. See Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Orders. Communication product deemed to comply with Malaysian Standard or other standards approved by the Malaysian Authorities. - certificate of approval issued by SIRIM Berhad.
