Scope of legislation

This ESSENTIAL describes the frame of the market access conditions for radiation devices established by the Directive 2013/59/Euratom and to be implemented by the member states. The Directive applies in particular to the manufacture and the operation of electrical equipment emitting ionising radiation and containing components operating at a potential difference of more than 5 kilovolt (kV) (see Art. 2 (1)b)). "radiation generator" means a device capable of generating ionising radiation, such as X-rays, neutrons, electrons or other charged particles;'
