This ESSENTIAL describes the legal obligations for manufacturers and the regulatory requirements for the restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment as specified in the technical regulation.
Annex I The scope of the regulation covers electrical and electronic equipment which fall into the categories specified in: 1. Electrical apparatus and appliances for domestic use - For the preparation and storage of food and for the mechanization of kitchen work and other kitchen appliances - For processing (washing, ironing, drying, cleaning) laundry, clothing and footwear - For the cleaning of premises - To maintain and adapt the indoor climate - Sanitary and hygiene equipment - For hair, nail and skin care - Body heaters - Vibration and massage devices - Play, sports and training equipment - Audio and video equipment, television and radio receivers - Sewing and knitting machines - Power supplies, chargers, voltage regulators - Garden tools - Equipment for aquariums and garden ponds - Electric pumps - Electric and electronic watches - Calculators - Wiring accessories - Extension cables 2. Electronic computers and associated devices - Servers, system blocks of personal computers - Laptops - Tablets, pocket, hand-held and other small computers - Keyboards, manipulators, trackers and other control and input devices (computer mice, joysticks, helmets, glasses) - Removable storage devices - Monitors - Printers - Scanners - Acoustic systems and headphones - Multimedia projectors - Biometric information readers - Web cameras - Modems - Uninterruptible power supplies 3. Terminal telecommunication devices - Landline and cell phones - Telephone machines - Fax machines - Telex - Radio transmitters, radio equipment, radio stations - RFID tags 4. Copiers and other electrical office equipment 5. Electronic tools 6. Lighting equipment 7. Electronic musical equipment 8. Gaming systems 9. Cash registers, ticket-printing machines, ID card readers, ATMs, information kiosks 10. Cables, wires and cords (with voltage rating under 500V AC/DC) 11.
