This ESSENTIAL describes the regulatory requirements for electrical and electronic devices based on the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and legislation related to Electrical Safety of Canadian provinces and territories.

1.) Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (SOR/86-304)
Part VIII Electrical Safety
Standards 8.3:
(1) The design, construction and installation of all electrical equipment, if feasible, shall meet the standards set out in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
(2) The operation and maintenance of all electrical equipment shall meet the standards set out in the Canadian Electrical Code.
No additional federal legislation but on Provinces and Territories level. Most of the laws and ordinances are based on the CEC (Canadian Electrical Code) plus local additional requirements or exemptions.
