This ESSENTIAL describes the conformity assessment requirements for electrical and electronic equipment for use in explosive atmosheres, based on INMETRO Portaria No.115/2022 and other legal requirements.

Conformity Assessment Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres
Art. 3 - § 1 The present Regulation applies to:
I - electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres, in conditions of flammable gases and vapors, in environments classified as zone 0, zone 1 or zone 2;
II - electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres, under combustible dust conditions, in environments classified as zone 20, zone 21 or zone 22;
III - electromechanical equipment with its own pumping, with or without a reservoir, intended for filtering diesel oil (diesel oil press filters); and
IV - instruments intended to continuously measure the volumes of liquid fuels.
This Ordinance entered into force on April 1, 2022.

Consumer Protection and Defense Act
Defines the competences of Conmetro and Inmetro, institutes the Metrological Services Fee, and makes other arrangements.
Art. 1: All goods sold in Brazil, inputs, final products and services, subject to technical regulations, must comply with the relevant technical regulations.
Approve the criteria and procedures for the registration of products, inputs and services that are part of Inmetro's regulatory scope and have their conformity assessed in the compulsory field.

The registration will not exempt the supplier from the legal responsibilities inherent to the production, assembly, creation, construction, transformation, import, recovery, repair, fractionation, packaging or packaging of the product or input or the provision of the service.
