| Scope: |
This ESSENTIAL describes the safety of pressure equipment requirements of Israel:
a) based on the following Occupational Safety and Health legislation (for operators):
- Work Safety Ordinance (New Version)
- The safety regulations at work (steam boiler and heating boiler operator)
- The safety regulations at work (safety devices in pressure equipment)
- Occupational Safety Regulations (Hydrostatic Pressure Test of a Pressure Facility)
- Occupational Safety Regulations (sale and rental of machines, installations and equipment)
b) Imported pressure equipment must comply with Official Israeli Standards, listed in 4 risk categories (for importers, manufacturers)
- The Import and Export (Import Groups) Decree
- Standards Law

Chapters with Pressure Equipment Relevance:
CHAPTER 1: INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION - Mark A: Interpretation
"Steam" = smoke, gas or fumes
"Steam boiler" = a closed vessel in which steam is produced for some purpose under pressure greater than atmospheric pressure, including a boiler used to heat water supplied to said vessel and a boiler used to heat steam
"Permissible working pressure" = in the case of a pressure installation – the pressure that must not be exceeded as explained in the certificate or report issued in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 3
"Steam container" = A container, other than a steam pipe or steam coil, constructed with a permanent outlet to the atmosphere or to a space in which the pressure does not exceed atmospheric pressure, and is a container through which steam passes at atmospheric pressure, or at a pressure close to it, for heating, boiling, drying, evaporation or a similar purpose
"Pressure device" = Steam boiler, steam extractor or air extractor
"Steam extractor" = A container or device used to contain steam at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure, excluding a steam boiler, a steam container, a steam pipe or hose, and a part of a prime mover

Safety regulations at work (steam boiler and heating boiler operator) - Definitions and scope:
Heating boiler:
1) pressure greater than atmospheric pressure
2) the water temperature is higher than 100 degrees Celsius and lower than the boiling temperatures of water at working pressure;
3) the boiler power is greater than 1.200 kilowatts or its output is greater than 1.000.000 kilocalories per hour
Steam boiler
- as defined in the ordinance and excluding a heater whose capacity is less than 500 kilowatts or whose heating area is less than 20 square meters
Content:

Chapter 2: Pressure gauge for a pressure device
Chapter 3: Safety valve in a pressure device
Chapter 4: Water level indicator in a steam boiler
Chapter 5: General
This regulation describes the hydrostatic pressure tests which have to be performed before installation and after repair of:
- Steam boilers
- Steam Collector
- Air intake
